I apologize:

O men of [Internet], in the character of a juvenile orator – let no one expect this of me. And I must beg of you to grant me one favor, which is this – If you hear me using the same words in my defence which I have been in the habit of using, and which most of you may have heard in the agora, and at the tables of the money-changers, or anywhere else, I would ask you not to be surprised at this, and not to interrupt me. For I am more than seventy years of age, and this is the first time that I have ever appeared in a court of law, and I am quite a stranger to the ways of the place; and therefore I would have you regard me as if I were really a stranger, whom you would excuse if he spoke in his native tongue, and after the fashion of his country; – that I think is not an unfair request. Never mind the manner, which may or may not be good; but think only of the justice of my cause, and give heed to that: let the judge decide justly and the speaker speak truly.

I do not have such a silver tongue.  Or fingers.  Mine are made of aluminum and Alcoa is not doing so hot because of the best Muslim President of all time.

Please read Ed Morrissey’s column at Hot Air for a very fair critique of the situation between Tommy Christopher and AOL.  As I’ve stated, I have a conflict of interest because I am loyal to Tommy.  I mean, the philosopher I came up with was Mr. Rogers anyhow.  He’s channelling Greek thinking which is just Greek to me.

Ed (Can I call him Ed?  Yes?  He tweeted me once with the strange name of @EdMorrissey. I think that allows me to call him Ed, but I’m not sure) Morrissey has this very annoying habit of givkng careful, sober, analysis on most eveery issue.  Especially this one.

Morrissey interviewed all parties involved in the story.  Every source is checked.  All points of view are represented. The more I think of the article, the more I think he should just drink that goblet of hemlock already.

The doctor of Hot Air also plays a funky air piano.  A little know kernel of trivia he shares with that Socrates Dude is they both played air piano.  The facts are laid out for all to see.  And, the facts have consented to being laid.

Out.

so, the reason that tommy is nolonger with PD is because they had to make room for writers that nobody reads?

Hey Louis! Go read Ed Morrissey’s article in the link on the new article.

There is an interview with Melinda.

Reports from at least two other websites which have her in apparently inconsistent statements.

Ed finds statements inconsistent and calls fer her to APOLOGIZE TO THE READERS OF AOL! That was my ALL CAPS WADE IMPRESSION )!(.

Another writer, Moe Lane, finds inconsistencies and other nonsense.

Plus, Tommy factually accuses her of lying about the story.

There are objectively inconsistent accounts without Tommy’s statements.

    NewsBusters chronicles this as well.

    So Does HuffPo.

Yet, One is willing to jump to conclusions when, Melinda didn’t even read Tommy’s post when it was put up on the front page. Not only that, she claims it did not clear editorial staff when that’s not the way things work with the front page.

The Apology is an apology for telling the truth and seeking wisdom despite Socrates knowing Athens will kill him. It’s his defense of spurious charges.

I’m just saying, look at all the facts. Not just Melinda’s article, which doesn’t make sense. Read the Huffpo article. Critical of her. Red State. Hot air. Moe Lane. Newsbusters. Collegepolitico.

    your cubeworthiness,
    re:
“….to make room for writers that nobody reads?” = she’s full of BS.
and we know she’s full of it, because we’ve all been there.

    Tole ya so…

Why do you think lawyers never let their clients testify? Same thing here. She’s all over the place.

I really tried to be fair. I’m still trying. That article details everything and look at the opinions you are forming. Further, she does not respond, lied about a reporter Steve Gutowski (sp?) at Newsbusters. She questioned his ethics. Despicable. Why? He checked sources she said he didn’t. Also, who the hell is a social conservative and economic liberal?

    • Peggy Says:

A social conservative and economic liberal is a guy who spends tons of money for decorations, booze and food for a bachelor party but won’t hire a stripper.

        Peggy,

        IFLMAO!!!

        LOVES IT!!

      • Peggy Says:

Cube, my love. Yesterday, I found out I won twenty bucks in free gas at my local convenience. Now, I’ve won an award here. Since I never wind anything, this has to be a good omen. So, I’ve planned a very busy day around my new found luck. First, I’m going to try to buy lottery tickets in every state that offers a lottery. I’m already search online to see if there are any tickets available for the Irish Sweepstakes. Then, I’m heading down to my friendly, neighborhood casino where I plan to cash my Social Security check and play a hundred dollars a hand at the blackjack table. There’s a feeling in my old bones that a change is coming. (hope it’s not the same feeling these old bones get when rain is coming.) See ya.

You can tell by all the spelling and grammatical errors how excited I am.

I simply heart you, Cube 🙂

It’s gratifying to know that us LOYAL fans gave Tommy the benefit of the doubt and supported him even BEFORE all the facts/details emerged, but some people STILL instead give Melinda the benefit of the doubt and post “attagirl” comments on her blog even AFTER they’ve been laid out before them. They might have done better to keep their mouths shut UNTIL they knew WTF they were talking about. There are even more details from higher ups at AOL which remain confidential, and which only strengthen Tommy’s account. This entire experience has been an abject lesson in loyalty and fairness/justice, finding out who you’re TRUE friends are. I have been disgusted by a few things that have come out of this experience.

BTW- Peggy….outstanding comments being posted both on MH’s blog and on DD! Can you believe we’ve been at this for almost 2 years already? I also missed blue moon. Thanks for your support. And Michelle….I saw the heartfelt comment you posted here a few days ago(about Tommy and I) & have been meaning to thank you. It was touching 🙂 [Et la meme chose (merci) pour notre Roi, Louis]. Also a special thanks to our wonderful friend Bob.

    • Peggy Says:

      Hi, Diana,

It is hard to believe it’s been that long. I, too, miss blue moon. I saw one or two comments from her several months ago. I think she was somewhere over Montana or Wyoming. By now, it’s possible she’s somewhere over Siberia, where those mind controlling, climate changing Russians are blocking her transmissions. (Wait, that’s so last generation. We’re friends with Russia now.)

You’re welcome for whatever little support I’ve been able to offer Tommy and you. But you have to know there’s a measure of selfishness to it. I think I mentioned somewhere that I felt used by PD. There was no warning that a format change was coming or, if there was, I missed it. The first time I tried to open PM and got the new front page, I thought I had be redirected by mistake. I am computer illiterate so I kept going back and trying again. I finally called my granddaughter in California who suggested I google Tommy and Caleb to see where that took me. Sure enought, there I was back at PD. So, to use one of Melinda’s phrases, I “waded through” a bunch of stuff I wasn’t interested in to find MY writers.

It was hard to navigate so I sometimes quit trying to read comments by the time I reached the third or fourth page. But, I did keep going back because of the PM folks. I don’t know how they measure stuff but I’m guessing our readership had to help their bottom line. I started noticing that a lot of comments were getting meaner and more personal attacks were being aimed at people who posted things. At PM, I felt comfortable just posting anything that came into my mind. If something struck me as illogical or rediculous or I felt strongly about a topic, I didn’t care how idiotic it might sound. I knew I was among friendly people so I didn’t have to stop and think about how many or what kind of names I might be called. I quit that habit shortly after PD was born because I didn’t think it was worth risking being called six kinds of a bitch because someone didn’t like a comment I made. And I was surprised that the meanest comments were not deleted or at the very least, addressed by someone.

I guess AOL and the PD folks would say that the change in format, tone and writers is progress. I heard or read somewhere that progress is only progressive when there’s a point to it. And the point should be to take something that doesn’t work and make it work or to take something that may be good in it’s present form so you can make it better. I don’t see either of those things happening at PD.

You and Tommy are in my thoughts and prayers. There is nothing I can do to make a material difference for you guys now, but do know that you have friends.

  7. Diana Says:

One more thing, I just went back to the blog which has 86 comments, the one about Tommy and I’m even more outraged and disgusted than I was reading MH’s comment section! What a sense of self-importance, as if posting some Pulitzer prize worthy treatise, when they don’t know WTF they’re talking about. There were even fewer details then than there are now, but some people apparently feel as though we would all be waiting with baited breath for their sage comment….WTF?! And to make matters worse, their buddies kiss up to said comments without challenging either them or their loyalty. I’m sorry, but Tommy has urged me not to post comments expressing my thoughts either on DD or elsewhere. But he never comes over here 😉 UGH! This kind of thing burns me out of the entire internet experience, from Twitter to the blogs.

  8. Louis IX KingofFrawnce Says:

y’all do know that laissez-faire and trickle down theories are called “liberal economies” as opposed to command economies.
what people are saying when they say that they believe in liberal economies and social conservatism is that they’re neoclowns.

  9. Tommy Christopher Says:

My friends before this are still my friends now. Period.

  10. Cube Says:

    You said Period.
